Renting our space
Whether you're a teacher hosting a workshop or you want a space to host a meet-up, our space, equipment and expertise are available to you.
At Trylla we have a small space at the rear of the Trylla ground floor shop called the Upper Clayground and a larger downstairs studio space called the Lower Clayground.
These are multi-purpose spaces designed for hosting workshops, groups, parties and small events.
Upper Clayground
We are able to comfortably host 4 people seated or standing around one large table upstairs. Sessions with more equipment may find the space more comfortable with 2 or 3 attendees.
There are two sinks, a kettle, plug sockets and toilets. The space is very open, light and airy. It has 1 x 6ft long table, a smaller side table and 5 sturdy chairs that can be folded away if preferred. Each table has a wipeable tablecloth to protect it.
The Upper Clayground is fully accessible via 3 small individual steps, all of which have portable ramps available for use. Our bathroom is unfortunately fairly narrow so not suitable for a wheelchair to access, but we do have an agreement with the pub next door to use their accessible toilets. A member of staff will happily escort customers next door who may need to use this.
Lower Clayground
The Lower Clayground can seat up to 8 people comfortably. There are multiple plug sockets available downstairs and also extra lighting.
The space is accessible only by a set of steep and narrow stairs. It has a low ceiling but more ample space and if your guests are seated the low ceiling may not matter too much.
When renting the downstairs space you will also have access to the sinks and toilet facilities of the floor above as a part of your hire.
What's included?
Your hire fee will cover the following things:
- A member of our team’s time to be in the shop and to lock up after (unless you are a designated key holder)
- Water and electricity, including heating and cooling fans
- Access to our sound system, playlists and Spotify Premium account
- Use of space, furniture and kitchen equipment
- We can also list your classes on our website and Yuup page which recieve a lot of traffic.

Clayground Hire FAQs
You are able to rent our Clayground space in hourly intervals for as long as you want really!
The studio is hired for the duration of the workshop, plus any set up and clean down time. The time spent setting up and clearing the space is assumed to be around 30 minutes either side of the workshop times. Please inform us if this is expected to take longer or shorter, so that we can adjust your hire fee accordingly. (this is normally fine).
If you decide to rent the space for 3 + hours we will give you this hour for set up /clean up for free.
Maximum of 4 people upstairs
Maximum of 8 people downstairs
We are available most days and evenings.
It is cheaper to rent within our opening times which are as follows:

We can also facilitate evening or daytime bookings on days where we are closed by request. So we are very flexible!!
We are happy for you to use the space for any age group but please be aware that our studio has not been designed with children or babies in mind.
A few things to be aware of :
- We do not have baby any changing facilities available
- We do not have high chairs
- There is no running allowed in the studio
- Children under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult at all times

How much does it cost ?
To try and make it as accessible to people as possible we have different rates available to you which are dependant on a few things
- When you would like to rent - as some days are much busier for us at the studio
- How many people are attending your session - so that you still stand to make a profit for smaller classes if you sell tickets
- If you are familiar to us and use the studio frequently we can also make you a key holder to reduce the rate for you even further
